ABOUT

Hello, I'm Carrie Shiffrin, a visual artist based in Denver, CO. I earned a BFA degree in Studio Art from New York University in 2009, an MAT degree in Art Education from the School of Visual Arts in 2012 and an MOM degree in child-rearing from my son Rami in 2022. For nearly a decade, I shared my passion for art with students in public schools and when my son was born, I decided to shift focus to creating my own work.

Through my figurative paintings, I explore themes of time, aging and other distortions of reality within a framework of domestic surrealism. My recent work focuses on reflections, patterns and visual distortions, depicting real moments that slip into dreamscapes. In these new works reflection functions as both a visual device and a metaphor for the ways we interpret our own shifting realities.

I've been fortunate to share my work in various galleries across the Denver area, including SeeSaw Gallery, Blue Tile Gallery, Art Gym Denver, Niza Knoll Gallery, D’Art Gallery, Edge Gallery and CORE Art Space in addition to coffee shops like Wash Perk, Logan House Downtown and Stella’s Coffee Haus. I opened my first solo exhibition in May of 2025 at Bell Projects and look forward to my next solo exhibition at Portal Gallery in November 2026!

If you like my work, please get in touch!! I love studio visits, commissions and generally interesting conversations.
